    complex variable!

    hello guys, wondering why this expression

    $\displaystyle -\mid(-Z)\mid $ should give +Z while $\displaystyle -\mid-Z\mid $ should give -Z

    pls i need reassurance on this, thanks

    If $\displaystyle |u|$ denotes the absolute value of $\displaystyle u$, then $\displaystyle -|(-z)|$ and $\displaystyle -|{-z}|$ are the same expression, and it is not true that $\displaystyle -|{-z}|=z$ or $\displaystyle -|{-z}|=-z$ for all complex $\displaystyle z$.
