    What is the equation of the normal line to the curve y = x^2 + 2x - 1 at a point (1,2)

    The tangent line at (1,2) has the same gradient as the curve at the point (1,2). What function tells you the gradient of a curve?

    The normal line is perpendicular to the tangent line. What property do perpendicular lines have?
