Matrix equation with unknown coefficents
Supposed to solve

http://draw.to/static/d/45lUmO.png

I get from this following equations

6y-2=1
5y-2=0

x-5=1
x-6=0

But there are no solutions for y!!! The book says that
x=6 and y=1

How?!

You're correct, there are no solutions.

The matrix $\displaystyle \begin{bmatrix}-2&x\\ y&-1 \end{bmatrix}$ is what is wrong. It should be $\displaystyle \begin{bmatrix}\color{red}-5&x\\ y&-1 \end{bmatrix}$.
