Intro to Fourier Series question
Hello there, my professor gave out a practice question in prep for the exam. The posted question:
Compute the Fourier series for f(t) = ( 1 on [-pi/2,pi/2] ) or ( 0 for t>pi/2), on [-pi,pi].
I think my problem may stem in the professor incorrectly posting the question, since t is not defined for a portion of this. I am not sure on the period because of this.
Any help for this immediate, and future problems i may encounter for this question is much apprecated
Re: Intro to Fourier Series question
You do not mean that "t" is not defined. The function, f, is not defined for t between -pi and -pi/2. I would take it to be 0 between -pi and pi/2. So you just integrate between -pi/2 and pi/2.
(But note on your paper that no definition is given between -pi and -pi/2 and that you are assuming f is 0 there.)
