hint #2: in Plato's system above, put all the variables on one side of the equations, and you should be able to write down an augmented matrix rather easily.

One of the first things you should have learned about matrices is when two matrices are equal. $\begin{bmatrix}a & b \\ c & d\end{bmatrix} = \begin{bmatrix}p & q\\ r & s\end{bmatrix}$ if and only if each of the cooresponding entries are equal. That is, a= p, b= q, c= r, and d= s.
