# Thread: System of equations using Gaussian elimination or Gauss-Jordan elimination method

1. ## System of equations using Gaussian elimination or Gauss-Jordan elimination method

I'm suppose to solve the following using the Gaussian elimination or the Gauss-Jordan elimination method:

x - 2y + z = 8
y + 2z = -1
x + y +3z = 1

However, I always end up not getting the right answer for some reason. Can anyone show me step by step how to do this by Gaussian elimination or the Gauss-Jordan elimination method?

Start by subtracting the first equation from the third...
