    Finding pivots of matrix

    Hello,

    I know that number of positive pivots of symmetric matrix equals to the number of positive eigenvalues (same with negative ones).
    I know how to find eigenvalues but it is not so quick. I heard that much more easier to find pivots (if i need to know how much positive/negative eigenvalues specific matrix has).

    but i not sure how to find pivots.
    Suppose i have matrix

    \[ \left( \begin{array}{ccc}<br />
a & b & c \\<br />
d & e & f \\<br />
g & h & i \end{array} \right)\]

    how i calculate pivots?

    nm, I already found how to calculate pivots of symmetric matrices . It's based on Jacobi method.
