Thread: Finding orthonormal basis for R

I am given a 4 by 5 matrix and am asked to find the orthonormal basis for R^4.

Then i am asked to find the orthonormal basis for R ^ 5.

Can i take the transpose of the matrix and solve this problem?

Reduce the matrix to row echelon form to get bases for your row and column spaces. Then apply Gram-Schmidt.
