    Circle, Hyperble?

    express the equation 5x^2 + 38x - 8xy - 22y - y^2 + 47 = 0

    in the form AX^2 + BY^2 = 1?

    No clue how to even aproach, cheers all.

    You can't put this equation in that form. You can't even put it in the form A(x + C)^2 + B(y + D)^2 = 1.
