    Use the properties of the determinant to find det(A)

    I just need help getting started.

    Any help is appreciated!

    Not sure if this is a property of determinant, but u can row reduce it the matrix.

    For example  -r_1+ r_2= r_2 and  -r_1+ r_3= r_3

    Then it should become obvious.

    Yes, that is a "property of determinants":

    Subtracting a multiple of one row from another does not change the determinant.
