Hi, i had these 2 problems ,
1.The sum of a number and its square is 42.Find the number
2.One number exceeds another number by 9, and theirs products is 112, find the numbers.

For #1, Call this number x. How can you write that x plus the square of x is equal to 42? (Big hint)

Set up 2 equations with 2 unknowns:

eq1: x+9=y
eq2: x*y=112

Can you take it from there?
