Thread: Galois theory books

Hello there.

Last year I took a course in Galois Theory. I found that even though I worked hard in it, and despite the problem sheets we worked through, I still wasn't comfortable with the basics of the theory by the end. Now I am learning about algebraic number fields, and I find that upon relearning what I did last year, I'm still struggling to grasp the basic concepts.

So can anyone recommend their favourite texts on Galois Theory? These were the notes we worked from in the course in case anyone is interested.
