Consider the system of equations
ax + by = c
dx + ey = f
where a, b, c is an arithmetic sequence and d,e,f is an arithmetic sequence. Given that ae =/= bd, show that the system has x = -1 and y =2 as its unique solution.
I have no idea where to start. Does anyone know the solution?
