    vector space

    1. If V is the set of all vectors in R2 with standard addition and scalar multiplication defined as c[x y]=[cx y].


    2. If V is the set of all real numbers, with vector addition and scalar multiplication defined as u+ v = uv, c o u = c + u.

    Question: how do I determine whether the set V is a vector space?

    You have to go through all 8 properties of a vector space and also verify that its closed under addition and multiplication.
