Thread: vector help, please

does anyone know how i would go about proving the set v=(1,3)+a(1,2) where a is any real number and v is a member of R^2 is not in a vector space. thanks in advance

0 of R^2 doesn't belong to set v

so no value of "a" can make the vector = 0
