Yes; I get h = -2, too.

You have x_2 = (-3 - x_2)/h

x_1 + h*(x_2) = -3

(2 + h)*x_2 = 0

[(-h - 2)*(x + 3)]/h = 0

Solve for h;

h = -2

As you demonstrated, in your case it's easy to eyeball it.
