    Span

Hi, I need help on this problem.

Find a set of vectors u, v in R^4 that spans the solution set of the equations

    x - y + z + 4w = 0
    3x +2y -z +3w = 0

    Thanks in advanced

Start by solving the two equations simultaneously. You will need to introduce two parameters.
